Before joining NEISD's Technology Services department, I taught second grade at Larkspur Elementary. Prior to moving to Texas, I lived in New Jersey for 15 years. I am a military brat, and received my high school diploma in Virginia and graduated with my B.A. in Education from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. I served as Chairperson of the Technology Committee at Larkspur and was honored to be selected as a PTA Life Member and Larkspur nominee for the Trinity Prize for Excellence in Teaching in 2003. In 2010 I was again honored to receive the Trinity Prize for Excellence in Teaching campus nomination, this time from Harmony Hills Elementary. 2010 also brought about a life-changing professional development experience, I was selected to attend the Google Teacher Academy training and became a Google Certified Teacher. I am a Discovery Educator Network Star Discovery Teacher, an Edmodo Certified Trainer and a BrainPOP Certified Educator. In 2015 I became a K-5 Affiliate trainer for Code.org.
I had the honor of serving as a Technology Specialist for the opening of two technology-rich elementary schools in NEISD - Tuscany Heights and Vineyard Ranch.
Outside of school I enjoy spending time / chauffeuring my four children (Ben 25, Sarah 21, Max and Helen 18) reading, computers, and cooking. I am proud to be an Aggie Mom as Ben graduated from Texas A&M in May 2014, he has recently returned to graduate school there. Sarah is a junior at Princeton University. Max is a Freshman at UT Austin. Helen spent the 2014-15 school year (high school junior year) abroad in Germany as a recipient of the Congress-Bundestag Scholar program. I am Treasurer for the Winston Churchill HS NFL Parents Club (debate) and Committee Member and Webmaster for Boy Scout Troop 346. I love to go camping whenever possible.
