Plickers and Images

Plickers announced Friday that they have added support for images! Now teachers can insert an image with each question in their Plickers library.

Only one image can be added per question, so if you need additional images, create a 'collage' of your labeled images using an iOS app such as Pixlr Express or website such as: http://pixlr.com (click on Collage). If you would like to see a demonstration as to how to use Pixlr, go to this posting and watch the video beginning at about the 47 second mark: http://etsasusan.blogspot.com/2013/05/preparing-and-inserting-images-in.html.

Once your images are ready to upload into Plickers, open the website, go to your Library, and either edit an existing question or create a new question, see the camera image? Click on that to add your image to the Plickers question! It's that easy.

Stamping Images Using PowerPoint

If Paint isn't your speed, or if you have a large number of images that you want to collect all at one time, try using PowerPoint to stamp image credits onto your photos. Watch this movie for a demonstration:

How to use Preview to quickly stamp image credits onto photos using your Macbook.

Stamping Images Using Microsoft Paint

A movie I created demonstrating how to use Microsoft Paint to stamp image credit on photos.

Stamping Images Using Skitch on Your iPad

As part of my Digital Citizenship training for teachers that I am presenting this summer, I include a teach piece on different ways to stamp images with source credits.

Here is a movie that explains how to capture an image on your iPad and stamp it using the free app Skitch.

Preparing and Inserting Images in Google Forms (Collage Style)

Watch this video in order to learn how to create a collage image to insert in a Google Form. Using rock images obtained from Discovery Education, create a collage that becomes a key element of a Google Form quiz. In my next posting, you will learn how to create the forms quiz and grade it using the Flubaroo script.

Google Forms Now Allow Image Inserting

For a Google Forms fan, one missing feature has been the ability to insert images. Missing no longer, the ability to add images (without using scripts or external tools) is now fully functional.

Sample map image from Discovery Education
Simply insert / image and drag your image into your form. Images can be titled and text entered to appear when a user hovers over the image. Images are free-standing features that can be dragged and dropped to appear between any questions. Change your mind? Change the image with a click of a button.

This, along with the recent addition of date and time fields, which allows for data entry consistency in dates and times, are fantastic additions to Forms.

For the teacher who wants to use Google Forms to create quizzes or tests (which can include short answer and essays graded separately) Flubaroo is a free script that combines with Google Forms - check it out here Flubaroo.
